Lowepro Fastpack 200 is a medium size backpack in the Fastpack range. It does not have a notebook compartment which makes it much slimmer and less bulky. If you need notebook storage, check out Lowepro’s Fastpack 250 and 350.  The size of the Fastpack 200 is identical to the Fastpack 350 except it is about 3cm shorter which may fit a lens or two less than the Fastpack 350. Compare to the Fastpack 250, the 250 is 4cm deeper because it host a notebook compartment.

The Lowepro Fastpack 200 also has a variant model specifically for Video – DSLR Video Fastpack 250, which is a little wider and deeper and has a bigger proportion for the upper compartment to put your cables and audio equipment. Conversely, the size of the bottom compartment  for your DSLR Video is reduced.

The Lowerpro Fastpack range has a much better shoulder/back support than the Lowepro Slingshot range where the weight of the camera bag and gear are distributed to both shoulders instead of one. While Lowepro Slingshot is adequate for light travel, you will certainly feel the stress on your shoulders after several hours of carrying it. A fully packed Slingshot 200aw can weight as much as 7kg+. It would be very awkward  to carry with one shoulder. The Lowepro Fastpack is a much better choice.

Here is a comparison between Fastpack 200 and Slingshot 200

The Lowepro Fastpack 200  is slimmer without the notebook compartment. It may fit a lens or two less than the Fastpack 350, but it is less bulky and less obvious as a tourist/photographer. It is also a much moer comfortable for day trippers. The Fastpack 200 does not provide much room to expand on, but if you know you don’t take much on your trip, this is it. Choose the Fastpack 250 or DSLR Video Fastpack 250 if you need to bring your notebook.

Here is what you can fit in the Fastpack 200.

This is my most preferred shoulder bag for casual travel. It has a slim profile and it contours just like a casual back pack.

Comparision

The Lowepro Fastpack  350 in comparison is a little big bigger than  the Fastpack 200, which makes fitting that 70-200mm f/2.8 a bit easier. It has a waist belt for added support, and is generally suitable for a day trip with a few lenses, a body and a flash. You don’t want to put too much things in there, it can get quite heavier with a notebook included.

Here is how I arranged the Fastpack 350.

Comparing to the Lowepro slingshot 200AW which is the smallest size of the three, but the interior is a lot bigger. However, I don’t find the slingshot design comfortable to use for day trips when it is fully loaded.

Here is how I arranged the Slingshot 200.
